Course Overview

Degrees with a foundation year are specifically designed to ensure candidates gain the skills needed to succeed at degree level.

For students who do not meet standard entry requirements for direct entry to an undergraduate degree, UCLan London offers a four-year degree with a foundation year. Upon successful completion, students automatically progress to Year 1 of their desired course.

Students should expect to undertake significant independent study outside the classroom (approximately 18 hours per week during term time).

Ideal if you are looking to change career or return to education

Modules develop skills in writing assignments, mathematics, computing, public speaking and presenting

Subject-specific approach embedding academic skills within the context of the intended degree discipline

Assessment: four 30-credit modules; two modules per trimester with exams, written assignments (up to 1,500 words) and practical assessments

  • Cannot evidence GCSE-equivalent Maths and English (grade C/4 or above)
  • Looking for a shorter route into a degree, this adds a full extra year
